Afterwards we went to our friends, dropped off some prints and a CD and I got some baby time with a 2 month old. What a cutiepie!!! Love him!
I've stayed within the recommended carbs this past week+, not the healthiest option, but it's working. Yes it is a controversial diet but people are able to make it healthier by living on grilled chicken and veggies. That's how I use to do it... Last week was just an off week for us. I'm not sure why but I feel like I have to repeat myself.
I've seen my counter move up and I'm pretty sure it's the same folks viewing my blog, either ranting and shaking their head or smiling at the screen each day I update. I was never one to keep a food diary, I'd forget so I think with a few people watching and reading my blog, that's my motivation to be honest with myself about what I eat. It's amazing to see what you're eating on a regular basis while it's down on print. It's pretty discouraging but I think that's why I'm not cheating on this plan. I'd have to share my cheat and be embarrassed with the 'world' I don't want that. So the blog will stay up and open. I will continue to moderate and track the comments but atleast it'll stay up.
Please do the adult thing and don't bash me just because you disagree with my eating habits. It's rude and quite unnecessary.
Breakfast-
- 2 eggs, cheddar, mushrooms
- Ketchup
- Same thing as yesterday! I got home late and wasn't able to cook. But it looks like there's another meeting today so I might be able to debread a few sandwiches and eat the insides again.
- Filet Mignon wrapped in Bacon
- Steamed veggies.
Update:
We got home really late last night and I didn't feel like cooking. So while my chicken was, I grabbed a LC Tortilla, an avocado and some of the sautéed mushrooms from the day before and put it in a wrap, microwave for 30 seconds add some ranch dressing and WALA!! It didn’t need the chicken what so ever and the flavors blended together, was absolutely wonderful! I plan on having it again one of these days. A friend mentioned making a quesadilla out of it which also sounded great! I also had some peanuts and a SF jell-o cup afterwards.

Hey Dee,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your decision to lose weight and I want to wish you luck on reaching your goal! I am always interested in others' weight-loss programs, as I, too, am trying to lose weight.
The Atkins diet has always confused me, though, and I was wondering if you could explain a bit more about it, why you chose this program for your weight loss, why you think it will work for you, etc. I think it will help clear things up, and maybe even keep some of your detractors at bay. Yes, it's a controversial program, but I've heard that people succeed on it, so I think with more knowledge, your blog readers might not be so quick to bash (but who knows, really). Maybe a post about it all, instead of just a list of what you ate a particular day, will help.
Also, I did have a question about what you can eat. As I said, I don't really know anything about Atkins, except that you're not allowed carbs (or in limited amounts). However, your daily diet seems to be pretty beef- and chicken-heavy. Are you allowed pork and fish, as well? They might be lighter choices for you, and you may end up seeing a more drastic weight loss. Plus, wouldn't the Omega3s in fish count as a healthy fat, as would the olive oil that you could cook it in? Those fats might be better than the saturated fats that you're currently consuming.
I hope you take this post in the spirit that was intended...to gain a better understanding of your program and to hopefully make a helpful suggestion.
Good luck!
Hi Tracy!
ReplyDeleteTo understand Atkins, you have to read the book or do a lot of online research. The reason it's so controversial is because it doesn't allow you to eat milk or fruit because of the sugar. Even natural sugar is still sugar and creates Insulin in those with Diabetes or in my case, Insulin Resistance which is almost Diabetes.
You can eat any type of meat you want, chicken, beef, fish, pork anything really.
Technically your fats aren't limited and they tell you to eat a certain amount of cheese each day. Check out and read the website as well. If you sign up, they'll send you a welcome package with their bars and a small booklet.

Atkins isn't a NO carb diet. It's a low carb diet. The first two weeks (induction) are intense at under 20 grams of carbs a day. It's pretty strict and the carbs you take should be mostly veggies. After that, you increase your carbs a bit but people tend to stay on Induction for awhile because of the weight loss.
